Read articleMemory and Injustice is an independent consultancy which provides help and support to the falsely accused. Dr Kevin Felstead was for a decade Director of Communications for the British False Memory Society (BFMS) which was set up in 1993 following an epidemic of false memory-type accusations. Typically, the accusers claimed to have ‘recovered’ memories of past child abuse following regression therapy or hypnotherapy, or other dubious therapeutic techniques, having previously had no memories of ever being abused. This is completely different from genuine victims who can remember the trauma all too well. The charity closed in 2023 due to a lack of funding.
Claire Anderson is a Partner in leading Criminal Defence firm, ABV Solicitors who are instructed in the most serious, complex and often high profile cases in the UK.
Claire represents clients facing police investigations and prosecutions in a whole range of offences, and specialises in representing those facing allegations of serious sexual offences, including those of a historic nature. She is very experienced in advising young clients including young people of neurodiversity, recognising the special care needed in these cases. Claire also regularly advises students facing allegations of Sexual Misconduct as part of a university disciplinary process. She also advises those accused of sexual misconduct in the work place and assists in drafting formal responses and submissions as part of internal disciplinary investigations.
She is renowned for her excellent client care and communication skills and her dogged determination to achieve the very best outcome for each of her clients, whatever allegations they face.
She regularly persuades the police and prosecuting authorities to adopt alternative disposals to charging and often succeeds in persuading the police to drop investigations altogether. This is possible because she is proactive at the early stages of the investigation.
Claire has worked closely with Kevin Felstead for many years and together they have provided enormous support to individuals facing sexual allegations, achieving excellent outcomes as a result of their combined extensive experience.
Claire contributes to a number of publications and delivers talks to schools and charities regarding how to deal with criminal investigation/proceedings.
Her article concerning the unacceptable delay in criminal investigations and prosecutions was published by The Times newspaper.
